Osnabrück/Berlin, 03.02.2025 - Together with a broad alliance of 145 organizations, the children's rights organization Terre des Hommes publishes an open letter on the occasion of today's CDU party congress
Statement by Joshua Hofert, board spokesman for Terre des Hommes:
»We appeal to the CDU to decide on an immediate program at its party conference that pays attention to children's rights. The rejection of refugees at the borders, flat -rate detains from children and their families or the termination of family reunification to the beneficiary of subsidiary protection is definitely not included. The fact that such suggestions should be decided by the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag with the votes of an anti-democratic party last week is a breach of taboo and a danger to child rights.
We appeal to the CDU: commit to the human rights fire wall and stand with us for social interaction, the rule of law, democracy and children's rights. Because every child counts, no matter where it comes from! "
