Osnabrück, June 28, 2022 - The International Children's Aids Terre des Hommes has a result of a good 41.7 million euros for 2021. The income comes primarily from donations of 21 million euros and co -financing on the part of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of 19.7 million euros. Terre des Hommes supported 368 partner projects for needy and exploited children in 43 countries of Africa, Latin America and Asia as well as in Europe in 2021. In Germany, Terre des Hommes in various cities support 23 projects primarily to protect and integrate refugee children.
"The year 2021, like the year before, was all about Covid 19-pandemic, from the consequences of which the poorest suffer," said Joshua Hofert, board member of the communication of Terre des Hommes. »While pandemic in public perception has clearly taken the background, children and poor families worldwide still suffer from the consequences of Lockdowns and the resulting unemployment. This has led to the fact that the number of children working for the first time in 20 years who have to work to survive their families has increased significantly to 160 million. «
In view of the fatal interaction of wars, the consequences of the Covid 19 pandemic, the effects of climate change and the intensifying global hunger disaster, the international community faces huge challenges. »Our world is more and more disintegrated in half, in poor and rich. Just as the number of rich has increased significantly during Covid19 pandemic, the number of poorest and most vulnerable increases that suffer the most from the system crisis. At the same time, non-regulation organizations such as Terre des Hommes have to assert themselves against repression of autocratic regime and the restriction of child and youth participation. We will continue to face these challenges together with our global network of partner organizations and with the help of our generous donors, we will make a contribution to the fact that the poorest in the world also have future prospects, «said Joshua Hofert.
