Millions of refugees need a future perspective

Joshua Hofert, board spokesman for terre des hommes , explains to the World Refugee Day on June 20:

Osnabrück, June 19, 2023 - » According to the current data from the UN refugee agency UNHCR, the number of refugees has reached an absolute high with over 108 million. Around 40 million refugees are children under the age of 18. As an international child law organization, we support numerous projects for refugees, for example in the Sahel, in the Middle East and South Asia, but also in Germany. In order to permanently improve the framework conditions of our work, we expect the Federal Government more commitment to combat the causes of flight such as armed arguments and droughts, weather extreme and hunger as consequences of climate change. This also includes that there may be no budget cuts in the budget of the Federal Ministry of Development and the Federal Foreign Office, but are permanently available for development cooperation and humanitarian aid. And one help to help the word "humanitarian" in the name, that the planned reforms of the European asylum system are immediately withdrawn and instead developed on the basis of the internationally agreed human and children's rights. «
