Berlin, 05.07.2022 - On the occasion of the decision of the Federal Cabinet on the Opportunity Law on July 6, 2022, twelve organizations require refugees to grant the same rights. On July 6th, an action will take place in front of the Chancellery from 9:30 a.m. "The Federal Government now has the opportunity to introduce urgent improvements for children and adolescents in the right to stay, family reunification and access to training - but the current draft law has to be improved," demands Joshua Hofert, Board of Directors Communication by Terre des Hommes.
The present draft law only takes up a small part of the improvements announced in the coalition agreement. In addition, the draft law is not yet consistent and continues to leave a large scope for interpretation. This applies in particular to the regulations on the right to stay. »The goal is good and correct: to give people a chance who have not yet had a safe status. However, these regulations must be designed in such a way that entire groups of people do not fall out of before, including many minors. The practice of long -standing tolerations and unsafe stays must have an end, for this it requires generous stay rights regulations, «explains Joshua Hofert.
In addition to the insufficient design of the right to lead rights, there are no urgently needed changes in the draft law: The regulations on family and siblings 'and siblings' enthusiasm announced in the coalition agreement are not changed. And the work and training bans are not abolished either. Both areas are of great importance for refugees, so the government and the Bundestag factions should take the opportunity to implement these overdue changes as soon as possible. »The paradigm shift announced by the traffic lights in the flight and migration policy is not yet in sight. He now has to find himself in concrete legal projects, «says Joshua Hofert.
On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, the legislative package on the right to stay for the opportunity for refugee people in the federal cabinet is to be decided. From 9:30 a.m. Terre des Hommes and eleven other organizations with a rally and public action in front of the Federal Chancellery will draw attention to the gaps in the draft law.
