The Rotary Club Osnabrück donates 3,000 euros to the children's rights organization Terre des Hommes

Osnabrück, November 20, 2024 – Doing good for refugee children and young people in the Osnabrück region: On Tuesday, Stefan Burghardt, President of the Rotary Club Osnabrück, presented a check for €3,000 to Terre des Hommes board member Joshua Hofert. The donation will be used for the Osnabrück project "FreiZeit für junge Geflüchtete" (Free Time for Young Refugees).

The project is an initiative of the Osnabrück association Exil EV and is aimed at refugee children and young people from the initial reception facility Bramsche-Hesepe. In the project, for example, you can try it out creatively, discover the surrounding area with excursions, work out in indoor play halls and use other sporting offers. The aim is to offer a wide range of leisure activities and create rooms in which you can get your head free - far from everyday life in the initial reception facility - and simply be child.

"We are pleased to have Terre des Hommes – a global organization that is also active here locally – in our city," says Rotary President Stefan Burghardt. "We want to promote public acceptance of refugees in the city and the region. Meeting people as equals, without reservations, regardless of their residency status or country of origin, is an essential contribution to integration."

Joshua Hofert thanks the valuable commitment: "The Rotary Club Osnabrück also makes it possible for us to convey a positive feeling of belonging to the children in the sense of an open welcome culture and help them develop their individual potential."
