Against the exploitation of children in global supply chains
The supply chain law is in danger. This threatens a step backwards in the fight against exploitative child labor. Sign here for the protection of children and the environment in global supply chains.
Sign petitionChancellor Friedrich Merz, France President Emmanuel Macron and other political actors strive to weaken or even abolish the EU supply chain directive-contrary to earlier promises. Companies would then have to assume hardly any responsibility for human rights, environmental protection and fair working conditions in their global supply chain.
We can still save the supply chain law!
The coalition agreement provides for the implementation of the EU supply chain directive-we use this opportunity together to stop exploitative child labor and environmental degradation. Support the petition of the Lief chain law initiative.
Exercising child labor is in food, cosmetics, cars, household appliances or fashion and home textiles. The aim is to end this exploitation in global supply chains.
The corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) obliges companies to take responsibility for their entire supply chain. It is a central instrument to prevent exploitative child labor and other human rights violations in the supply chains of European companies and thus comply with their duties. In addition, she contributes to containing environmental degradation and thus particularly protects the health of children in countries in the global south.
The EU directive for Germany is particularly important because the coalition agreement provides to abolish the German supply chain law and instead implement the European regulation. However, if the EU supply chain directive is stopped, in the worst case there is no longer any effective supply chain law in Germany. Companies would then have to take on any responsibility for human rights and environmental protection in their supply chains - with dramatic consequences: more exploitative child labor, more exploitation and more environmental degradation.
The initiative delivery chain law is a broad alliance of more than 140 civil society organizations, including Terre des Hommes. Together we are committed to effective laws that oblige companies to respect human rights and environmental standards along their entire supply chain.
The initiative informs, mobilizes and puts political pressure - so that exploitation of children and adults as well as environmental destruction are no longer part of global supply chains.
Terre des Hommes is an active part of the initiative and is particularly committed to the rights of children and adolescents worldwide.
