How does group-based hatred arise? Why are people targeted even though they've never been met? And what can be done to counter hatred and hostility? These topics will be explored artistically in an inspiring afternoon of film and readings.
The Augustaschacht Memorial is showing the film "Fading Peter." Peter van Pels was born in Osnabrück in 1926 and murdered by the Nazis in 1945 because he was Jewish. Traces of his life can be found in Anne Frank's diary under the pseudonym "Peter van Daan." Young people from various countries have explored his story and the mechanisms of exclusion, hostility, and violence.
Following this, you are cordially invited to a reflection session with staff members from Terre des Hommes Germany. The event will conclude with a short reading from "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
