Terre des Hommes wanted to create a space that offered room for encounters, exchange, and getting to know one another. They invited Shabnam, Bilal, Anna, and Khalid, along with friends, family, and other interested individuals. In the garden of Café Felka in Osnabrück's Museum Quarter, a space was created where the four shared their personal stories with the guests.
" I have become a new person ," said Shabnam from Iraq. In 2016, she fled Iran with her husband and daughter, now lives in Osnabrück, converted to Christianity, and is active in her church community. There, she leads a Farsi group.
"I want to work for peace," said Bilal, a Kurd from Rojava. He fled northern Syria in 2015, has been volunteering for Terre des Hommes , and is active in various local organizations advocating for peace.
“War is no place for children,” said Anna from Ukraine. She fled with her two children shortly after Russia’s attack on Ukraine and is starting completely anew in Osnabrück, gradually finding a new home.
“A child of war, a youth of peace,” ,
and the importance of access to education.
