Terre des Hommes achieves good earnings results in 2023

400 projects were funded worldwide

Terre des Hommes reported revenues of just over €48.7 million for 2023. Revenues came primarily from donations of €22.9 million and co-financing, largely from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, of just over €22.7 million. Compared to 2022, in which Terre des Hommes received numerous donations for Ukraine, donation income in 2023 decreased by €5 million, while co-financing increased by €9 million.

"Thanks to this support Terre des Hommes supported a total of 401 partner projects in 2023 to empower disadvantaged and exploited children in 47 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe," explained Joshua Hofert, CEO of Terre des Hommes . "Humanitarian aid once again played a major role in donations. Terre des Hommes received €4.9 million for this, for example, for aid following the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria." There, Terre des Hommes partner organizations were able to carry out reconstruction work and ensure that families had a temporary roof over their heads and that children received schooling.

"In view of the numerous humanitarian crises in Sudan, on the horn of Africa and in the Sahel, however, we need significantly more means to provide help there too," said Joshua Hofert. “Because we are in the middle of a global crisis of armed conflicts, war -related escape movements and the destructive consequences of climate change. The Federal Government seems to ignore these global crises in the federal budget by wanting to shorten the funds for both development cooperation and humanitarian aid for 2025 by around one billion euros each. From many years of experience, the federal government should actually know that development policy and humanitarian aid are important instruments in order to work on peace, democracy and compliance with human rights even in crisis -like regions. «
